Hello! My name is Brodina Bousselot, and I am an American Sign Language - English interpreter and transliterator. I have been professionally interpreting since graduating from an interpreter training program in 2022, and have since received my Bachelors Degree in Interpretation Studies in ASL-English from William Woods University (October 2024).
I was born and raised in Eastern Iowa, but now reside in Southern Wisconsin. I hold permanent licensure in Iowa, and educational licensures for Wisconsin and Alabama.
When I'm not interpreting, I am spending time with my pets and livestock, reading, or creating music.

Hello! My name is Brodina Bousselot, and my sign name is a B handshape moving downward at the side of the head to represent my curly hair. I grew up in Iowa, but I now live in Southern Wisconsin.
When I was around seven or eight, I started learning a little bit of American Sign Language, mostly things like colors and the alphabet. Later, I attended Iowa State University, where I majored in Animal Science with a focus in Equine Management, and minored in Agronomy – which is essentially farm-related science. I took ASL on the side because I was interested in it and wanted to learn the language, and I still remembered a little bit from before.
Unfortunately, that university did not have a program for it, but it didn’t matter to me, as I took all the classes I could, including ASL 1-4, Deaf Culture, and others. I graduated and came back home, where I discovered that the local college actually had an interpreting program. I signed up immediately, and graduated with an Associate’s in Applied Science for ASL-English Interpreting. I am now taking classes at William Woods University, or WWU.
When it comes to my career goals, I am currently working as an educational interpreter, and do a little bit of community work as well. In the future, I would like to be Nationally Certified, but my main goal is to be very skilled in facilitating communication and providing equal access. That is my most important goal.
Recently, in 2022, I took the EIPA and received a 4.2. In the future, I would like to be certified by the Board for Evaluation of Interpreters, and later I do want to become Nationally Certified.
